Knit A Ranunculus (3 sessions)
>> Tuesday 6th, 13th & 20th October 7pm to 8.30pm <<
>> £57 per person <<
With more than 38,000 projects made by knitters around the world, it’s easy to see why this modern classic by Midori Hirose has become one of the most loved sweater patterns ever published.
So what makes Ranunculus so special?
Its beautifully textured yoke, relaxed oversized silhouette and remarkable versatility mean it can be knitted in everything from laceweight to worsted yarn – pick a fine yarn for a light, airy and softly transparent garment, or something thicker for a cosier, more structured finish. It’s a sweater that can look completely different depending on your yarn, and that freedom is a big part of its magic.
You can choose from smaller or wider neckline, and short sleeves or long puff sleeves with/without diagonal cuff line.
You should be comfortable knitting, purling, working ribbing and knitting in the round, including small-circumference knitting using either Magic Loop or double-pointed needles.
It’s a rewarding make for knitters ready to stretch their skills. I will guide you through every stage of the pattern – understanding the techniques, solving problems as they come up and knitting with confidence. In between the sessions, you can also refer to Midori’s multiple videos covering all the techniques used in the pattern.
By the end of the third session, you should have your Ranunculus well underway – or perhaps even completed, depending on your knitting pace – and a much stronger understanding of top-down garment construction, working shaping, lace, short rows and finishing techniques, with the skills to continue your sweater independently. I also hope you will feel confident about taking on future garment projects with far less hesitation.
I will provide you with the pattern and help you pick the yarn in advance of the sessions with a 10% discount if you choose to get it from our shop.
You will need 5mm and 6mm circular needles, and 5 stitch markers.
Important: If you cancel your booking a refund can only be given if your spot is taken by someone else so please give as much notice as possible
