Knit Your First Jumper – The Downbeat (5 sessions)
>> Thursday 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th October & 19th November 7pm to 8.30pm <<

The Downbeat by Elizabeth Smith is a great beginner-friendly pattern. This top-down, seamless design knits up beautifully in aran weight yarn and features short rows for a flattering neckline, plus options for A-line or straight body shaping.
You should be comfortable knitting, purling, working ribbing and knitting in the round, including small-circumference knitting using either Magic Loop or double-pointed needles.
I will guide you through every stage of the pattern – understanding the techniques, solving problems as they come up and knitting with confidence. In between the sessions, you can also refer to Elizabeth’s tips and videos covering all the techniques used in the pattern.
By the end of the sessions, you should have your jumper well underway if not completed, depending on your knitting pace – and a much stronger understanding of top-down garment construction, working shaping, short rows and finishing techniques, with the skills to continue your jumper independently. I also hope you will feel confident about taking on future garment projects without hesitation.
I will provide you with the pattern and I am happy to help you pick the yarn in advance of the sessions at a 10% discount from our shop.
You will need 4.5mm and 5mm needles, and 4 stitch markers.
